The meaning of positioning in small business marketing & how it positively impacts business revenue

In another real life example, I was having a chat with a business owner who was asking me for some ideas on marketing he could do to get a quick result. If I had a dollar for every time I got asked that question, I’d be a trillionaire. But it’s a fair question, because as business owners, the premise of your business is to make money, and you should never be ashamed of that.

The answer: there’s lots of quick marketing activities that can be done for businesses, in fact, the amount of options out there is quite overwhelming. But that’s secondary to what needs to get done first…

defining what you do and why you’re different, and then communicating that in a really clear and simple way so that a child could understand….

so that when you start communicating to the outside world, it’s as effective as possible. Without it, the message is weak, unclear and people move onto your competition.

By communicating your positioning and point of difference, you have a much higher chance of your marketing activities succeeding. So remember, strategy (positioning and point of difference) first before activities.
